Mark Stewart says there are a lot of businesses out there dedicated to making women feel healthier, better. But for men, not so much.
So the Chandler City councilman has teamed up with a friend from his softball team to do something about that. They’ve opened Gameday Men’s Health 2450 S. Gilbert Road, Chandler.
“Men don’t have wellness opportunities,” Stewart said at the grand opening for the Chandler location. “Women have nails and facials and all those things.”
Gameday specializes in treating low testosterone, but it also treats other conditions.
Mike Labeda, the softball buddy who is co-owner of the franchises with Stewart, said the company has seen massive growth since it opened in California.
“It’s the fastest-growing medical franchise ever, and we happened to get in the second we could,” Labeda said.
The pair bought the franchise rights for parts of Phoenix and the East Valley, adding that the Arizona locations sold out in an hour.
“The numbers speak for themselves, everyone wants in because of the numbers,” Labeda said.
The first two locations they opened were at the Biltmore and in Chandler. Stewart said they have plans to expand to Queen Creek, South Gilbert, West Chandler and Oro Valley.
The franchises that have opened before them have all been successful, Labeda said. He said it shows there’s a need for this type of business.
Stewart said he was working for a client in his marketing business who provided hormone therapy for men and women. He decided to give it a try.
“It was something that I tried, and it was an absolute game changer for me,” Stewart said. “It’s more energy, more libido, but I think the biggest thing for me was the connection in my marriage got better. It was good already, but there was more energy, more life.”
One reason Gameday has had such early success, Labeda said, is America has a testosterone problem.
“Our society has low testosterone,” he said. “As you get older, typically, it’s lower and lower, but we’re seeing guys in their 20s now that have really low testosterone.
“We don’t know the actual cause.”
He said symptoms include brain fog or fatigue, poor sleep, muscles that aren’t growing and general soreness. Low sex drive is another sign.
With hormonal treatments, patients are feeling more energetic, sleeping better, and improved libido.
The clinic also handles weight loss, vitamin injections and treating erectile dysfunction. Gameday’s website says 40% or men will experience low testosterone by age 45, and 52% will struggle with erectile dysfunction.
Labeda and Stewart have been playing on the same softball team at Snedigar Sportsplex in Chandler the past five years. Neither had prior experience in health care.
Stewart does marketing, Labeda is in real estate.
In its first 18 months in business, Labeda said Gameday plans to have 200 locations open. That number will increase, as they’ve sold the rights for nearly 1,000 locations.
He said they are happy with the location they purchased.
“We were selective on where we chose to be,” he said.
