Granada Grand Festival of the Arts In Ormond Beach | Arts & Entertainment

The 11th Annual Granada Grand Festival of the Arts will be packed with art, music, food and more in Historic Ormond Beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.

The event will include entertainment on two music stages, 80 artists/crafters, a chalk art festival, a children’s book swap, and a wine tasting. The festival also will host a slam poetry competition featuring poets from throughout the Eastern United States and much more.

This free festival will line both sides of New Britain Avenue between Beach Street and Ridgewood Avenue.

Grab a beer or a glass of wine and wander the street to watch select artists demonstrate their techniques, then snag something unique from one of the exhibitors selling their handcrafted pieces, the majority of whom reside right here in Volusia County. Stop by the “Pop-up Plaza” for musical performances from The Locals Mix. Enjoy a snack or meal from a local restaurant at the food court. You can even get creative with hands-on activities for the whole family in the youth art zone.

Be sure to vote for your favorites at the ArtHaus Chalk Art Competition.

Professional artists will create mini-masterpieces with chalk in seven hours. Judging takes place at 3 p.m. and your vote helps determine the “People’s Choice” winner. All the money collected in the chalk art area goes to support the art education programs at ArtHaus.

For the second year, spoken word art will join music and the visual arts as a part of the Festival. MACDeLand Slam and Creative Happiness Institute will present nationally competing poets in a Poetry Slam competition. Poets from chapters of the Florida State Poets Association will have a special feature after the slam.

It is a competitive art event where poets perform spoken word poetry before a live audience and a panel of judges. There will be an Open Mike with cash prizes from noon to 1 p.m. The slam finalists will take the stage from 1 to 3 p.m. with the winner taking home a $750 prize. Poets from the FSPA will close out the festivities from 3 to 4 p.m. Poets who want to participate in either the slams or the open mike with cash prizes should preregister at [email protected] with a picture and a 75-word bio.

Children are encouraged to bring a gently used children’s book to the youth art zone and choose a different one to take home as part of the Book Swap.

Enjoy a Wine Tasting with 16 different wines between 1 and 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Stay in the neighborhood after the festival for the monthly First Saturday Art Walk at local galleries on both sides of Halifax from 3 to 7 p.m.

Grab a map and tour “Art Imitates Life” a temporary sculpture installation of works by Seward Johnson up and down Granada Boulevard.
